How do you do pest control here in Florida it feels impossible for me to do it organically. We just moved from SD, and everything I put in the ground gets eaten by something.

dew makes grass firmer, not limp. Tool must be adjusted properly. There are many many nuances. I've learned a lot from Jim & a couple other videos. Appears most people 'try' too hard, crouch or are bent over, use arms too much. Actually, once it becomes so effortless, you dont even think about it & can 'daydream', then you are getting close to being a zen master!

The videos with Jim have been more than inspirational. My front yard was grass and is now a garden(7 50 foot beds). Two of my neighbors have done the same. My daughter and I have a small farm stand on the side of the road. Thank you for everything, Eric in Rhode Island

So the method is raised bed? That has nothing to do with the native soil. Those beds could be sitting on anything. It’s clearly a great, very productive garden. But that has nothing to do with improving the native soil

I've been mowing my pasture with an American scythe [have 5 of them, bought 1 for 20.oo, given the rest] they're Never worn out, LOL. Have different blades for conditions. The weeds are tough, not like hay or grass rt now. I may build one of the balers you use. It is very interesting & good work out. Have to get all components adjusted properly, & razor sharp, etc, or it won't work. Thanks!

Very helpful. What is Dr. Campbell's mango tree feeding program? Compost from which source materials - fruit, vegitative, root materials? Any other soil amendments like minerals? We would rather rely on compost (& natural ground cover doing its thing). What are the Campbells, and others, doing? Also, when did Nam Doc Mai stop producing? The cultivar used to be highly recommended in Florida. We had fruit three years ago but 2 years without fruit now, and thinking about topworking.

Boiled linseed oil is okay... but pine tar is where it's at when it comes to preserving wood. I use it on all my wooden tool handles and such. Sailors used it for preserving their ships, sails, and ropes when out on the water, so that tells you just how good it is. I mix mine at least 2:1 with turpentine to thin it down. Paint it on, warm it up a little with a hot air gun or torch, and you can see it sink into the wood. Really great, too, if you mix it with Iron Oxide powder or other natural pigments. It's actually why are barns are red -- the pine tar and iron oxide made a paint the protects against UV damage, bacteria and mildew, as well as rodents chewing. Cheap and easy, you can even make your own pine tar at home if you only need a little bit. Cheaper and easier to buy it, but making your own is kind of fun to try once.

Pete, thanks for sharing Jim's knowledge with all of us! I have a small SHADY lot in an HOA community, so it has been challenging growing food. BUT I started helping at the middle school across from my home with the Future farmers of America program. We have planted a few fruit trees, improved a pollinator bed, yucca, sweet potatoes and even have watermelon growing this summer. Thanks for being so encouraging!
